Large hotel dining room overlooking the pool and fountain. Attentive staff and an ambitious menu with quite a reasonable wine list. Brightly lit kitchen at one end. Standard modern Australian food. Well regards for a la carte dining by the locals.

Set up for tourists with all the artefacts (old saddles, branded calves skins, corrugated iron) and with a formula menu to serve large numbers. There are two big rooms each with fireplace and staff running everywhere ladling out soup from buckets and ferrying fry pans with massive steaks.

The Date Farm, situated in Alice Springs is Australias oldest date plantation. The attraction includes many features such as the historic date gardens, outdoor restaurant and cafe, kiosk and souvenir shop, live entertainment and shows. It is also available for private functions and outside catering.

A large corner space with windows on two sides and some outdoor seating. The feeling is luxurious - a strong colour scheme, red, black and dark green gives richness and white tablecloths, comfort. There's a bit of fuss about service details which doesn't always work. If you want to converse intently be sure to request a table away from the stage on those nights where there's live music (jazz, etc.). The food is Asian inspired, modern and well done.
